Winter Wonderland Art Exhibition United Hebrew of New Rochelle, New York

 United Hebrew of New Rochelle, New York announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, December 1, 2010 - February 28, 2011 at the United Hebrew Lazarus Gallery. Awards: Best in Photography, Mixed Media, Sculpture. Jurors: Jean-Paul Maitinsky, Hudson River Museum; Carolyn Glickstein, photographer and collector; Madelyn Jordon, Madelyn Jordon Fine Art. The theme is the celebration of the magic and beauty of winter and the winter holiday season. The works can also depict anything that has a special memory, family traditions, winter holiday-related themes, foods, homes and people. The call is open to all visual artists working in 2-D and 3-D mediums including, but not limited to painting, mixed media, drawing, printmaking, fiber, textiles, photography and wall-mounted or framed sculptural relief. Framed dimensions for each entry must not exceed 36" x 48". Maximum weight of 75 pounds. Sculpture not to exceed 24"H x 24" W x7" depth. Entries must be submitted as jpg files. Max 5 images. No entry fee.

Join us for a evening of performances to benefit Triple Canopy's artistic and literary programs. Steady Orbits will feature an interactive scale model of the solar system by Matt Mullican; a storytelling and lightbox performance by Ellie Ga; a video program organized by curator Gary Carrion-Murayari; DJ sets by Javelin and Jon Santos; performances by the ensemble Ne(x)tworks, which will play a selection from Stockhausen's Aus den sieben Tagen (1968), and the band Psychobuildings, with a set designed by Ryan Johnson and Kevin Zucker. Steady Orbits also marks the launch of Triple Canopy's tenth issue and the magazine's redesign.


$7 donation includes musical performances and DJ sets; $45 premier support includes a limited-edition print by Dexter Sinister, cocktails, light fare, and all performances.

Triple Canopy works collectively with writers, artists, researchers and other collaborators on projects that deal critically with culture and politics, and the ways people engage them, both online and in the world at large. These investigations are realized in an online magazine as well as in public programs and print publications encompassing various fields and locales. We aim to present work and advance ideas informed by a multitude of disciplines and perspectives, and to disseminate them among a broad and diverse audience. Triple Canopy, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, was founded in late 2007; our first issue was published on March 17, 2008.

Artist Fellowship New York

Artists' Fellowships are $7,000 cash awards made to individual originating artists living and working in the state of New York for unrestricted use. Grants are awarded in 16 artistic disciplines, with applications accepted in eight categories each year. Since the fellowship program's inception in 1984, NYFA has awarded over $24 million to over 3,700 artists. In 2010, NYFA awarded 115 Fellowships to 118 artists, with three of them working in a collaboration.

All applicants of NYFA's 2010 Artists' Fellowships Program have been notified of the status of their application via the email address submitted to the online application. If you have not received notification please check your spam folder. If you are unable to locate your email notification please email fellowships@nyfa.org.

To be eligible for a NYFA Fellowship, applicants must be a resident of New York State for at least two years prior to the application deadline and cannot be enrolled in a degree program of any kind. NYFA will begin accepting on-line submissions at www.nyfa.org/afp in early-September. Applications are due during the first week of November; please refer to the Application Guidelines to find out the specific date for each category.
