ANNOUNCEMENT: SPONSORSHIP OF THE ARTS
OKLAHOMA MEDICAL RESEARCH FACILITY - NEW ATRIUM SPACE
COMMISSION FOR DONOR RECOGNITION SCULPTURE
Oklahoma Medical Research Facility will sponsor a competition for a major work of art for their new research building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The artwork will be a donor recognition artwork, incorporating elements of the donors’ names as part of the artwork.
Who is eligible?
Artists born or residing in any of the following states: Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Criteria
Artistic excellence is the most important criterion; any sculptural medium will be considered. Durability, ease of maintenance, and sustainability to environment will have a bearing on selection.
Selection of Artists
Jurors will select up to five semi-finalists who will be required to produce a full proposal complete with a maquette of the site-specific commission. Each semi-finalist will receive a non-refundable $500.00 to produce the maquette. The maquettes will then be shipped to OMRC for review. The finalist will be selected based on the site-specific maquettes.
Estimated Budget
The final budget for the sculpture will be at the discretion of the OMRF, the expected cost range is $20,000-50,000 to produce and install the completed sculpture.
Before submitting, artists are asked to review the time-line for this project; if they are unable to complete work according to the schedule listed below, they should not submit an entry.
How to Enter
1) Submit images of artwork. Artists can send up to 20 images. Images should be submitted in jpeg or tiff format on disc and the file names and disc must be labeled with the artist’s name, title of the piece, media, dimensions and date.
2) Submit a typed list of the images included on the disc. The list must include the artist’s name, the title of each piece, medium, dimensions and date.
3) Submit a typed resume including artist’s contact information.
4) Submit all of the above by email or mail to the attention of:

November 29, 2010 Finalist to be selected by Jurors
December 7, 2010 Finalist released to begin production
January 7, 2011 Review of artwork in progress – possible studio visit
February 11, 2011 Review of artwork in progress, if necessary
March 4, 2011 Arrange for artwork to be shipped to site; to be coordinated with F+L
March 15, 2011 Unveiling of artwork at site
