The TJC Wise Auditorium Art Gallery is pleased to have the opportunity
to showcase the talents of three outstanding Tyler Junior College art
students. These works include a variety of media including painting,
sculpture and mixed media. These TJC students were awarded a 2010 -
2011 performance grant, have a good grade point average and are creating
art to present in an end-of-semester exhibition. The student showcase
exhibition allows artists exposure as well as the experience of creating
exhibition-ready artwork. Students display their art at a professional
level and are integral in curating, promoting and installing the
exhibition.
Alejandro Alfaro - prints and paintings on canvas of symbols and
symbiotic relationships of the human condition. Eye catching images
raising questions about what we culturally and individually deem
important as well as what we are scared of.
Mikki Yunoki - exquisite prints showing a mastery of technique and
form. Mikki creates images of culture and musical instruments with a
focus on design. Colors are bold and bright and effective in
captivating the viewer.
Nick White - paintings and ceramics inspired by popular culture and the
imaginative imagery of graphic novels. Creatures from other worlds are
presented allowing the viewer to complete the bizarre narrations that
would accompany the pieces.
The Art Gallery at Tyler Junior College is located in Wise Auditorium
Fine Arts Building near South Mahon across from the Tyler Museum of
Art.
