 We are pleased to welcome Artist Joey DeRuy to the gallery's Visiting Artist Program with an Artist Introduction and Private Reception on Thursday May 5th, 2011 5:30pm - 8:30pm. Joey DeRuy draws his inspiration from the technology age as well as his own personal narratives. Influenced by Futurism, his work is a social commentary on his view of humanity. Using the techniques of Cubism he depicts his subjects from a multitude of view points to personify his chosen subjects in an altered context. Joeyʼs work has graphic as well generally figurative elements which communicate individual stories relating to the human experience during a time of constant societal upheaval. Creating a literal depiction of history, humanity, speed, and industry.
