Call to Artists Drawing Medium Italy

Call for Artists to take part in an exhibition based on the theme of drawing. The title of the exhibition is "Drawing Connections" and brings artists from all over the world together to celebrate the act of drawing on a postcard-sized work.

All work will be documented and exhibited during the inaugural exhibition of the Siena Art Institute, 24th Sept 2011.  We will also make a free downloadable catalogue from the exhibition with the names of each of the artists, medium and title. A selection committee will choose the winning postcard to be published as the cover design for the exhibition catalogue.

What we request:

• Format: Artwork should be on a postcard-sized surface, paper, card, canvas or other material (15 x 10.5cm)
• Included with work a separate sheet of paper with title, name, date and medium.
• Entry Fee: None

• Medium: Any! Must fit within the dimensions of (15 x 10.5cm)

Return of works: Work cannot be returned to the artist, unless you wish to make payment-on-delivery arrangements through UPS for the return of your postcard. At the end of the exhibition, the original pieces along with the label information will be collected into a bound portfolio to remain in the collection of the Siena Art Institute library.

Selection: While we intend to display all submitted postcards, we reserve the right to not display artwork with profane or pornographic imagery since the "Drawing Connections" exhibition will take place alongside our community arts programming.

The Art Museum of Los Gatos invites artists to submit artwork for consideration to be included in the 2012-2013 exhibition schedule. We encourage participants from a range of media including visual arts: sculpture, painting, photography, printmaking and site specific installations.
Submissions:

• Send images of 5 to 15 work samples and include the media, dimensions and title for each image provided.
• Please also include an artist statement, bio and exhibition history.

BACKGROUND
The Los Gatos Museums Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to harness the power of art and history to enrich life. It aims to inspire and engage the region with innovative educational cultural experiences. The Los Gatos Museum Association (LGMA) includes the Art Museum of Los Gatos, the History Museum of Los Gatos, and the Los Gatos Museum Art Gallery.
The Art Museum of Los Gatos was founded in 1965. It is a non-collecting Art Museum that has six to eight exhibitions annually. Exhibitions include the work of local, national and international artists and has a strong interest in artists from the South Bay and Greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Call to Artists Los Angeles We Are All Palestinians International

We Are All Palestinian

In September as most of you know, Palestinians will appeal to the United Nations to recognize the autonomous State of Palestine - more than 63 years after the U.N. Partition Vote and the end of the 1948 war that punctuated the establishment of Israel.

September will also mark the 10th anniversary of the second Intifada. Moreover, it is the 10th anniversary of 9/11 along with the 10th anniversary of the Levantine Cultural Center.

"We Are All Palestinians" will be a group exhibit of contemporary work (painting, sculpture, video, multimedia) by Arab, Iranian, Armenian, Turkish, Jewish and artists of other ethnic identities who are interested in sharing in the experience and the discourse on what it means to be Palestinian in the 21st century. Every artist regardless of nationality or religion is invited to submit work for consideration. Work that may be described as satirical, political, post-modernist, hyperrealist and other genres will be considered.

"We Are All Palestinians" will run Sept/Oct 2011 in the Inside/Outside Gallery at the Levantine Cultural Center. Artists are responsible for framing and shipping expenses although pick-up and delivery arrangements can be made for local artists.

Artists interested in participating should submit jpgs of their work and a short statement of interest to Jordan Elgrably, jordane@levantinecenter.org.

About the Inside/Outside Gallery
Addressing a void in the American art world, Inside/Outside Gallery is the first gallery in the United States to specialize in presenting contemporary Arab/Middle Eastern artists. Inside/Outside seeks to challenge Orientalist stereotypes by providing the general public with both a physical and online location to view/appreciate art that is representative of the diversity and evolving cultural identity of the Arab/Muslim world and its growing diaspora.

THE MCKINNEY AVENUE CONTEMPORARY ANNOUNCES JULIA MCLAIN AT MERCANTILE COFFEE HOUSE AS PART OF THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE MAC AND THE MERCANTILE COFFEE HOUSE

As part of the McKinney Avenue Contemporary's community outreach program, the MAC has teamed up with Mercantile Coffee House to extend its contemporary artistic vision and educational support to downtown Dallas. This partnership will promote and support emerging talent with monthly exhibitions throughout the year. Donations from Mercantile Coffee House will benefit artistic programming at the MAC.

The upcoming exhibition at Mercantile Coffee House features the work of Julia McLain. McLain is a local artist from Dallas, Texas. Mclain's professional background includes work in commercial illustration and store front designs and installations. In the 80's and 90's Mclain exhibited in Lower Greenville and Deep Ellum spaces such as Record Gallery, Stout McCourt, Arcadia Bar & Grill, & 8-O's. More recently she has exhibited at the Bath House Cultural Center and Mary Thomas Gallery in the Design District. Mclain participated in "Botany of Desire", an exhibition curated by Greg Metz at UT Dallas in 2011. Julia defines her work as the movement of Cutism. Being the opposite of cubism, Julia describes this movement as "taking broken matter and re-assembling it into a tangible, safe composition." Recycling from past iconography, she recalls her loss of innocence as a young child. The opening reception with the artist will be Saturday August 13, 2011 from 6:00pm-7:30pm and will be on view through September 10th.

Through the MAC's innovative efforts and artistic advisement, visitors to The Mercantile Coffee House will have the opportunity to view and interact with contemporary art in a non-traditional setting.   This initiative is congruent with the MAC mission of supporting experimentation and promoting a visual dialogue between the artist and the viewer.   Mercantile Coffee House will exhibit a variety of emerging artists and media, enhancing the setting and experience for visitors.
